Bukit Tinggi 25-27 Nov 2005 : Company Trip cum Team BuildingThe trip was a blast. I'm pretty sure everyone has a good (and tiring) time. The directors did well in organising the whole event. Probably cracked their heads for several nights jsut to ensure everything would go smoothly. Also it was because it was their first time having so many people in one trip, plus the fun & games and making sure things and people jive with one another.
The trip wasn't just a getaway, it was for team building too. We're a small company, so it was important everyone knew each other well and the culture was there. All the fun & games we had, indirectly these activities were teaching each and every one of us the importance of teamwork and good planning. On top of that we had a few sessions as a company with the 3 directors which talked about the company, our roles as colleagues & staff, the culture, the people and the workplace.
Overall, it was a fun trip. Learnt a lot from it :)
We had a cooking competition on the first night. My team did our shopping for raw materials the day before at Tesco. Since there was a budget and theme to follow, we had to make sure we didn't break the budget and at the same time made sure we cooked something that would guarantee us a win. 80 bucks to feed 6 people ok, very tight budget. And during the cooking competition, there was a twist o.O As the team leader & head chef, I was suddenly told to go to the other team midway through the competition. And the other team's leader came over. This move was actually to see how the rest of the team members would cope without a leader if such a crisis did occur during a project/job. After 20 minutes, I was asent back to my original team (actually one of the directors who was in the other team was reluctant to let me go cos he thought I was doing a good job in his team! Haha!).
This is the dish my team whipped up: Pan-fried Dory infused with herbs & spices
*drool~*
Everyone loved it! The other team cooked pasta with cream sauce.

Tealight candles from the other team. The dinner setup was in the other apartment, so my team had to bring the food over. I stepped on one of the tealights later by accident :P
*ouch*We were judged from food, teamwork, ambience, budget etc etc. The taste wasn't the factor here, it was the teamwork and planning that really mattered. But hell my fish won! Woohoo!

For dessert, we made chocolate fondue. This dish almost went down the drain cos of a slight miscalculation. But luckily everything turned out ok.
After dinner, we all cleaned up and took a short break before starting our session of games. The directors brought the game Cashflow. If you remember the book
"Rich Dad, Poor Dad", you'll recognise the name of this game.

For many of us, it was our first time playing this game so of course very blur lar. But we all had good fun teasing each other and tabulating our expenses and passive incomes :P Heck, I liked the game so much I wanan get a set now! But man... USD 195 price tag...
*choke*... RM 700++...
*double choke*... Got pirated version ka :P
We played the game in pairs. Did I get out of the rat race? Of course I did
*che-wah*. Actually my partner and I were quite lucky for our first game. We played until 2.30am I think. The following night another session (after the one-on-one with the directors), took us a little longer to get out of the rat race cos we took the doctor's card, which although had higher income, but came with higher expenses as well.
Overall, the trip was good. Everyone had a good time, learnt a lot of stuff, everyone on the right track. It's good to see everyone growing together and bonding. And here your bosses actually listen to you and hear you out. Unlike my previous company, either shut up or get out. No wonder so many people have left the company.
I had fun. Good fun. And I learnt a thing or two as well about myself and of my colleagues. I'm thankful to be with this company.
