Panadeleiloumou Bakery
I was in Centrepoint, BU very early today, because hubby needed to be in the office pretty early for some work related stuff. And since we have one car between us, I got up earlier than usual and headed to office an hour early *yawn*.

I didn't want to wait outside the office like some sohai (and just wait a full hour before someone comes and opens the door), so I opted to have breakfast at the one and only bakery here in. I could've opted for McDonald's, but my stomach wasn't so keen on so much of processed food and MSG so early in the morning. Didn't really have much choice, bakery it was~

When I stepped into the bakery, their selection was still kinda limited. Probably because most of their buns & pastries were still baking in the oven. Never the less, I saw that they serve scrambled eggs with bacon on Tuesdays/Thursdays and Saturdays, so I figured, oklah, I shall have their breakfast set la.

So I procceeded to the counter to place my order. "I'll have one Set C please"... The short tudung-clad lady with a face as black as charcoal replied in a huff... "Takde set..." Ermmm, ok, what about other sets? "Takde set... Semua takde...".

"Kat sini tulis every Tuesdays/Thursdays and Saturdays ada set?"

"Takde set, semua takde. Saturday saje ade."

... Yau mou gau chor ahhhhh...?!?!

Darn, I really didn't want McDonald's, so I had to settle for some pastries instead. Selected 2 pastries and asked for a glass of orange juice. I've always liked to have my pastries warmed up, so I politely asked if she could warm the pastries up for me.

"Ini semua panas. Baru keluar dari oven." *sulks with black face*

... Honestly, does it take that much of your freaking lazy hands to warm up a couple of pastries? Lazy biatch.

Frankly, if I can avoid the bakery I would lor. Damn freaking lauyar and expensive. And I can't exactly bring my own food there and just occupy their tables too. Panadeleiloumou more like it. Tak guna.

Slowpokeness
Your slowpokeness is a real PITA to the entire team.

You say you do great work, hence everyone has to wait for you.

What crap.

You're freaking slow in execution.

The whole team knows that.

And you can't even complete a single frame design in a day.

Heck, you took TWO days for a job which should've probably taken half a day.

The Sr Art Director got pissed at you.

The Account Manager got pissed at you.

I've seen turtles run faster than your pace of work.

You're equivalenting your great work with your slow process.

No one's buying it.

Because good work and working slow are two different issues.

You can think of creative ideas. Bravo.

You can't finish your work by the deadline. Boo.

And how many times have the team given you leeways?

Tak tau malu.

You made me wait for a few hours just so you can finish your great work.

And you have the nerve to say there's no use to complain to the Account Manager or anyone else because you're doing great work, so everyone should just wait for you.

I felt like shoving the entire PC up your ass.

You're doing your own work next time.

You can jolly well do your own slicing.

Since you do great work, you see it till the end.

Boycotts. Do They Work?
*Note: This is my take on the topic. Bear in mind, it's purely my opinion and does not stand for others. There's no right or wrong answer to the question either. It's merely an opinion.

Do boycotts really work? Some people in the government have been encouraging the consumers to boycott US-made products, as well as quit working in US-based firms, in light with the violence happening at the strips of Gaza.

Ok, to be honest with you, I haven't exactly been following the events there. The Israeli troops are relentlessly attacking Hamas, that I know. And Hamas has also been attacking Israel. And innocent civilians... men, women, children, babies are being murdering by the second. I don't know why Israel is attacking Palestine or vice versa, as I'm tired of following their news. And I don't think even they know why anymore. It's a war that's been going for decades already, and will probably go on for the next hundred years. I think the real reason behind the start of the war is already lost. But I'm not going to comment on some thing I don't really know.

My question is, would boycotting of US-made products, help in any way at all?

A lot of our products are imported from US, as well as many other countries. A lot of F&B outlets in our countries are franchises from the US. Big names like McDonalds, KFC, Wendy's, Starbucks just to name a few. Let's not forget electronic gadgets like iPod, Mac, Dell, Hewlett Packard. Adding to that, the fashion industry with names like Hush Puppies, Guess?, Coach, Nike, Reebok. How about consumer products under companies like P&G (Procter & Gamble)?

A lot of these American big boys have factories and offices all over the world. They create millions of job worldwide for people. And with these jobs, people can earn a decent living, raise families and go on their daily lives.

So, if the consumer is encouraged to boycott US-made products and quit their jobs, should the consumer:-
1) Stop eating food products like KFC & McDonalds?
2) Stop using consumer products that are manufactured from US companies i.e: P&G?
3) Stop using their Mac books and iPods?
4) Stop wearing clothes that carry American labels?
5) Quit their jobs totally and look for another job?

If a consumer stops patronising fast food chains, but still uses the iPod, wouldn't that still count as using US products? Should a consumer boycott partially, or boycott completely?

Would I boycott US-made products? The answer is no. Simply because it doesn't work. Boycotting not only doesn't work, it will also affect the livelihood of those that depend on it. War has nothing to do with food and products. It's the fucking politicians and shit stirrers that causes war. You want to stop the war, take it out on the politicians. Leave the people alone. Politicians are all chicken shit. They hide behind their desks and get other scape goats to do their dirty jobs. There's probably a special place in hell for politicians.

And asking people to quit their jobs? That's one of the most absurd suggestions for the year 2009. In this world, no jobs means no salary. And no salary means no money. Who's going to feed you and your family? How are you going to settle your car and house installments? The government is not going to give you money if you quit your job. In the end, you're the one who's going to suffer, not the government or politicians who frivolously ask you to quit your job just to prove a point.

Also, I have been doing some reading about the Gaza-Hamas-Israel crap. And it's pretty twisted, and the media is only highlighting one small part of it.

Baked Fish
I learnt this new recipe from Shape magazine. Very easy to prepare, and has quite a refreshing taste. Here are the ingredients:-

400 to 500 grams of fish fillet (I used 2 pcs of dory).
1 tbps mustard (the actual recipe asked for mustard seeds, but we couldn't find them, so we replaced it with whole grain mustard paste, seeds intact).
1 large tomato, roughly chopped.
3 to 5 garlic cloves, minced finely (feel free to add more if you like).
1 red chilli, minced finely (this is optional).
2 to 3 stalks of lemon grass, finely sliced.
2 tbps fish sauce.
1 tsp sugar.
1 tsp white pepper
2 tbps olive oil

Mix all the ingredients up in a large bowl until it becomes a paste. Using a large spoon, scoop up the paste and place it on top of the fish. Wrap the fish in an aluminum foil (shiny side on the inside) and bake for 45 minutes at 170°C. Ta-daa! Alternatively, you could also place a piece of banana leaf underneath the fish, before wrapping the fish in foil. You can also opt to marinade the fish with the ingredients above for at least 1 hour before you bake it, it's not necessary.

The water you see is actually from the fish (could be from the tomatoes as well). I guess I didn't pat it dry enough... *made a boo-boo*~ However, hubby didn't mind and simply whacked all the soup up :P The overall taste of the fish is not overwhelming. You could taste the lemon grass, and the sweet tangy-ness of the tomatoes and mustard.

Low in fat, high in protein.

Pre-CNY Activities
Sin Nien Lai Lor~~~~

CNY songs have been playing in my office area on Christmas eve itself ok! HAHAHAHAHA!!! Christmas didn't even have a chance to fully knock us over, CNY already took over the atmosphere :PpPpPpP Honestly, retailers everywhere are just rushing the seasons!!! *takes a breather*

As usual, we're spring cleaning the house in stages. Actually we clean the house every week, HARHAR! I guess it's time to dig out the CNY deco items and start putting them. Maybe even get some new ones this year.

Hubby and I got some new clothings as well. I remember when I was a kid, my younger sis and I would really look forward to CNY shopping. New clothes galore!!! It's a norm already lah, to get some new clothes to celebrate the festive occasion. In Cantonese, it's 'yat kor yee see' - just a meaning. Although as we grow older, some people may or may not practise the act of getting new sets of clothes for the festive season.

Christmas is also a good time to do your CNY shopping, because that's when the year-end sales commences, and you get nicer clothes :P Clothes during the CNY sales are super RED, damn kau ANG until your eyes feels like they're being stabbed by multiple knives! O.O

I went shopping with some girlfriends last weekend. Spent 8 hours in 3 different locations LOLOLOL!!! The girls got more items than me, cos they were really looking for clothes and accessories. Since I had already bought a few items prior to the shopping spree, I only got myself 2 blouses. We spent our time in boutiques located in Damansara Perdana, Kota Damansara and Uptown DU.

It's going to be the year of the Ox. Will we expect a bull run this time around?

Mood Swings
This week has been taking a rather emotional drain on me. My mood swings are so violent LOLOLOL!!!! The fluctuations are like the stock market!!! (see graph below)

Oli's mood swing tracker.

I don't speak for other women, but I believe there are many women out there who also have pretty violent mood swings. I can get cranky, superbly cranky even. One of the signs I recognise about myself when I'm having mood swings is I get really easily agitated by the simplest of things. All it takes is one stupid move or stupid statement by someone, and WHAM! I'll be really really moody. Don't fucking step on my tail *hissssssssssssssss*~~~!

I will sulk and show a black face when I'm moody. Everything and anything can irk the daylights out of me. I'll be spilling vulgarities like nobody's business. I'll (figuratively) snap at anyone who crosses me. My eyes can suddenly start tearing for no reason while chatting on MSN. At one point, I can even feel like beating up people just for the heck of it, just want to belasah orang. And on top of that, I would want to be left alone.

Some experts believe that women are fully controlled by their hormones. A sudden spike in hormones can cause havoc in her mood, thus the term PMS. I think there's some truth in what these experts say :PpPpPpPpPpP (I'm trying to keep it under control lah, ok?)

Edited
Had initially typed a blog post this morning, a pretty harsh one too as I was annoyed at some stuff. But decided against making it public lah. Some things are better left unspoken. Don't wanna get into trouble so early into the year 2009 :P

Sigh~~~ Wanna go for a break somewhere. Just want to get away from people and be alone with my hubby.
